Our Mission: The Roots Agency is a talent booking agency dedicated to developing – with vision, expertise and integrity – the touring careers of exceptional artists who connect, inspire and transform their audience.


Tim Drake – President/Agent
Tim Drake started in the music business at age fourteen, while still in high school. He promoted his first national act, Mountain, at age eighteen, which was followed soon thereafter by shows such as Billy Joel, Aerosmith, and The Kinks. He promoted primarily in the suburbs of New York City, in venues such as Newark Symphony Hall, Westchester Premier Theater, Westchester County Center, and The John Harms Theater. In 1995, after fifteen years as an independent concert promoter, Tim founded a boutique booking agency, Drake & LaRoche, was eventually re-named The Roots Agency. Over the course of its twenty-two year history, the agency has evolved into a model talent booking presence.

Tim has served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents Association and frequently participates in industry forums and seminars. He was awarded the NAPAMA Award for Excellence in the Performing Arts by an Agent or Manager and nominated for Pollstar’s Independent Agency of the Year award in 2017.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Pace University.

Tim serves as responsible agent for Southside Johnny, Jim Messina, Graham Parker, Gilberto Santa Rosa and others. Tim is responsible for overseeing agency operations and for booking all promoters and presenters in New England, MidAtlantic, and Pacific Northwest (ME,NH,VT,MA, RI, CT, NY, PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, WV, LA, , NM, CO. WY, MT,UT, ID WA, OR, NV, HI, AK  CANADA, UK., EUROPE, AUSTRALIA)

David Lloyd – Agent
David Lloyd comes from both a presenter and agent background having served as Programming Director at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, CA and as Artistic Director at Yoshi’s in Oakland, CA, and also as an agent at both Agency for the Performing Arts (APA) and at International Music Network (IMN) for 12 years. He handles the Midwest and California. (CA, AZ, OH,KY,IN,MI,IL,WI,MN, ND,SD, NE, IA, KS, MO, OK, AR, TX)

Nicholas DiSpagna – Agent
Prior to the Roots Agency Nick was Associate Director of Entertainment at Infinity Music Hall. Prior to being a talent buyer, Nick worked in the musical instruments industry for Kaman Music Corp. He will coordinate artist development and the Southeast Territory for the Roots Agency.Nick is responsible for NC, SC, GA,TN,FL,AL,MS


The Roots Agency began in 1995 as Drake & LaRoche, an aspiring boutique agency representing a modest roster of five singer/songwriters. Founding partner Sean LaRoche heralded from the glory days of Premier Talent, a legendary booking agency, which represented such British giants as Led Zeppelin, The Who, Yes, and Jethro Tull. Under Sean’s tutelage, Tim Drake quickly learned the ropes, booking that same year his first 130-date national album promo tour (for Vance Gilbert’s Shaking Off Gravity). Over twenty years after its inception, the agency continues to focus on a small, but select roster. Recently, The Roots Agency was nominated for a 2017 Pollstar Award:  Independent Booking Agency of the Year.
